Dear Parents,
Thank you to all of you for the enjoyable and very useful conferences that we shared last week. I really do take my job as your child’s teacher seriously and I feel honored to be part of their lives. They make me laugh and touch my heart every day and I love my job. Thank you so much for sharing your most precious possessions with me!

WARM CLOTHING/ BLANKET/ SCARF/ GLOVE/ HAT Drive will end on Friday. Our class has not contributed as of yet. They are looking for new or gently used items to be brought to school with a target day of Thursday.
We have been talking all about the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims, the Native Americans and what the first Plimoth Plantation and first Thanksgiving was like. Ask your child to tell you what it was like on the Mayflower voyage, what the Pilgrims learned from the Native Americans and what the day to day life was like. We have been watching some videos that were filmed at the recreated site of Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Massachusetts. If you would like to see these videos then Google “Plimoth Plantation” and choose the Scholastic website to watch the videos. I have been there and if you ever get the chance to go to Massachusetts it really is a wonderful re-creation of our history that I know that your family would enjoy.
ACCELERATED READER: We will begin reading the books and taking the tests this week as it seems that all is ready to begin. I will send home a paper with your child’s password so that you can check the books that your child is reading. In the beginning we will probably test on one or two books a week and that will increase as the children read stories themselves.
Our week long Thanksgiving holiday will begin this Friday. School will resume on December 2nd. Advent, the four weeks leading up to the birth of Jesus, will begin on Sunday, December 1st.
I wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for Saint Mary’s and all of you! God Bless.
