Third grade is finally going on a field trip! We will be going to Palomar College’s new Planetarium on Thursday, January 31st. There, we will be learning more about the solar system in the show, “Explore the Solar System”. Field trip permission slips were sent home today.
The show will begin at 10:00 a.m. It is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long. We will leave around 9:15 a.m., and we will return to school around noon.
The field trip will cost $4.00. Children may bring in cash or a check (payable to St. Mary School). You may also call or visit the office to pay with debit or credit card. Please send permission slips and money to the classroom first. This way I can keep track of who still needs to turn his/hers in.
I will also need drivers and chaperones. The office must have records of your live scan and negative T.B. test for you to be eligible to be a chaperone. If you are available, please fill out the necessary paperwork attached to the permission slip. I will be selecting parents on a first come, first serve basis. My decision will also be based upon the number of children your car can hold. Please only count seats with working seatbelts that are in the back of the car. No child will be allowed to ride in the front seat. Should you be selected, you will have to pay an additional $4.00 for yourself. Unfortunately, I can only bring a limited number of parents on the field trip, so please do not send money for yourself until you have been notified that you will be attending.
This should go without saying but, if selected as a chaperone, you have permission to drive the children to and from the field trip only. You may not stop anywhere on the way or way back. Make sure you have enough gas in your car prior to picking up the children. You do not have permission to bring the children snacks or drinks. They are also not allowed to play video games or watch T.V. or movies in the car.
Permission slips and money are due to me no later than Tuesday, January 15th . If the permission slip and/or money is not in by that date, your child will not be allowed to attend. They will instead stay at school and complete a different assignment on the solar system.
Your children and I can’t wait for this exciting field trip!
Love,
Mrs. Johnston
