Middle School Update 8/25

Greetings Middle School Families!

I am very excited to have your students in my class this year! I met many of you over the past week, and I look forward to meeting all of you at Back to School Night on Tuesday.

This first week of school was dedicated to getting to know me, each other, and the classroom. My homeroom students worked on their first writing assignment, a biography of a peer, which you will be able to see at Back to School Night.

Next week, we begin normal class rotations. I will have students for Language Arts, Social Studies, and 8th grade Religion. On Wednesday, 8th grade will have their first mass. In 7/8 Language Arts, we will discuss expectations for the class, review grammar, work with our first Mentor Sentence, and practice short writing assignments. We will not begin novel study until the following week. In Social Studies, we will also discuss expectations for the class, and dive right into United States History.

For 5th and 6th grade Language Arts, we will also begin with grammar and our first Mentor Sentence. This week’s vocabulary words will be key terms that will be used throughout the year in Language Arts. In Social Studies, we will discuss class expectations, then dive right into Ancient Civilizations, starting with the beginning of humankind.

I am looking forward to a wonderful first week of full classes!
