Reminders and Announcements:
2016-2017 School Year: Tuition Contracts are now due.
Family Envelopes: It seems like many students are not returning their Family Envelopes. If you have lost your envelope, please email Mrs. Lopez at , and she will make you a new one.
A look at our week…
Religion: This week we started a project on the virtues. We will continue to work on this next week. On Tuesday, May 3rd we have our annual May Crowning at 7:15pm in the Church. Please bring a long stemmed flower to school on Tuesday morning. Each class will be putting together a flower bouquet to present to Mary. May Crowning is mandatory for all students. Please be in Room 7 by 6:45pm dressed in Sunday best.
4th Grade Language Arts: This week we kept to the theme of change by asking, “What causes change in a community?” The biographical selection I Could Do That! Esther Morris Gets Women the Vote tells the story of the first women who were allowed to vote in the United States. Students will also read The Role of the Constitution, about the importance of the United States Constitution in our form of government.

- Spelling: See Focus Wall (Homework assignment can be found here.) Please note: The challenge words are included in our weekly Spelling tests and must be included in the homework.
5th Grade Language Arts: This week students considered the question, “How can tradition influence a person’s thoughts and feelings?” as they read the selections. Our main selection was a historical fiction selection. In The Birchbark House, Omakayas, a young Ojibwe girl, has an unexpected encounter with a mother bear and her cubs. Students also read the informational text, Four Seasons of Food, which tells how the seasons dictated what the Ojibwe hunted and planted.

4th Grade Math: Chapter 9 Adding and Subtracting Fractions
Please note: Khan activities are assigned on a weekly basis. They must be completed by Friday of each week. As we enter the 4th Quarter, I will be increasing the amount of practice assignments to prepare the students for next year.

Please note: Khan Academy activities are assigned on a weekly basis. They must be completed by Friday of each week. As we enter the 4th Quarter, I will be increasing the amount of practice assignments to prepare the students for middle school.
5th Grade Tiger Lily Group: Chapter 12 Metric Measurement, Area, and Volume
Social Studies: In the beginning of Chapter 6, we will describe political, religious, and social institutions of the Middle Colonies and identify individuals responsible for founding the Middle Colonies. On May 12th, we will be taking a Field Trip to Riley’s Farm. Permission slip forms were sent home today.

Thursday 5/5: 9am Rosary led by 5th Grade, Author and Illustrator Celebration 1-3pm
Friday 5/6: 12noon Dismissal, Teacher Experience with Miss Silady and Mrs. Johnston(Purchased at Gala)
