January 19-January 22, 2016 First Grade News Mrs. Bonica
These next weeks will be busy ones for us.
We will have company on campus nextWednesday during Catholic School Week as we have Grandparents Day.
We will be decorating the classrooms to welcome them.
We have just heard that Fr. Eugene , who has said the children’s mass with us on many Wednesdays has been made a pastor in another parish and will be leaving us. The children just enjoyed making birthday cards for him last week and will be sad that he is going.
SPELLING BEE:
I have attached the 100 word list for First Grade that will be used for our portion of the spelling bee. Please practice these words and have children become familiar with them. We will do our spelling bee in the classroom on Feb. 5th and will join the older children later on that day. I know that most of the words are not on our spelling words from our weekly lists. The spelling bee is in 2 weeks so children should go over the words as much as possible.
We will have our regular words for this week which are review words. Homework will be the same as other weeks.
Spelling Words: made like, tree, rule, see time, bone, cute, game need, where some away, very, last smile, white, home , name, street.
- Can you use the game I made?
- He will need to go home.
- He gave the dog one bone to eat.
Religion: Jesus begins His mission, chooses His Apostles and begins to preach.
Language Arts: story: “How the Leopard Got His Spots”. We will learn about commands, proofreading and punctuation.
